If you are new to all of this it can be
daunting to know where to start.
It could be that you'd like to learn some
of the
demand and
capacity theory so you can understand why some changes in
CAMHS work and others don't.
You might be more interested how the 7
HELPFUL Habits (a CAMHS focussed demand and capacity framework) might
apply to your service. Some people are dipper-in-ers and so exploring
the
7 HELPFUL habits
at random might be interesting. Alternatively there is a self assessment
tool, the 7-HAT
that you can by yourself or with your team complete. This can give ideas
about what you might like to change. In the near future we will post the
national norms we have from over a 100 CAMHS teams
You might be more up for wholesale service
change and so reading about our model - the
Choice and Partnership approach
- could give you ideas. Its the clinical model we use in both of our
teams and we find it good for patients / users, supportive of staff and
has many of the ideas from the 7 HELPFUL habits.
A key question is can your service cope
with the demands put on it? There are couple of spreadsheets in
the Maths
bit that could help.
Any thoughts you have - let us know.
Enjoy!
